We have Two Plastering Centres catered for everyones needs from beginner to advanced. We also know that the majority of centres do not deliver the standards required within the Industry that gives the students the confidence and real life scenarios that they rightly deserve.

We have 5 dedicated Plastering Instructors who are fully qualified City & Guilds and NVQ Assessors and Internal Verifiers and know their Plastering Craft. All staff at Goldtrowel are also still on the tools to keep up to date with what is happening away from the Training environment. This enables all students to gain more confidence in all aspects of Plastering in knowing that we are just not Instructors.

Please be advised of the following.

  • We constantly get a flow of students from other Training Centres that are not satisfied. This is clearly evident from students reviews that other providers do not teach the best way Or have a Centre that is as realife as possible. 
  • We have constant complaints about other local Training Centres misleading their students promising NVQ's etc...
  • We invite all potential students to visit us prior to booking with any other Training Provider.

  • Name 2 backgrounds that Thistle Hardwall can be applied and why?
  • What is shelling and how do you overcome it?
  • Why shouldnt you PVA float work?
  • What is the Trowel Float Trowel method, and where would you use it?
  • How do you hold off plaster to tackle those bigger areas?
  • Difference between qualities of sand that can have an adverse effect to rendering?
  • Why apply scratch coats, name the various mixes to all substrates?
  • Variants of backing plasters and its usages?
  • Understanding the gauge of plaster mixes?
  • Differences between Mutli Finish and Board Finish, and what substrates it can cover?
  • We assist in finding employment using our Long eastablished contacts and Plasterers Forum and most important we travel UK National for all Assessments for NVQ without any hidden costs.

  • It is imperative that all students choose the right course to suit there needs. Most importantly we offer in depth Lesson Plans in all our courses that we advertise so at least you will know that you will recieve more than value for money.
  • During any of the Plastering Courses that we offer you, we show you how to mix all materials. You will all mix your own materials and not share any materials whilst on your course. Plastering starts from the bucket, get it right and you are 50% there before you start laying on.

With the exception of the NVQ Level 3 Plastering Courses, there's no requirement to complete more than a 6 week Plastering Course as it is clearly evident that providers are drawing out the course to make more money.


Qualifications and what they mean:

City and Guilds Plastering

  • The City and Guilds was available at Colleges many years before the NVQ. As we are old School trained and qualified we believe that the value of this qualification is paramount in all Solid Plastering. It is held in high esteem throughout the UK and across the Commonwealth, but Construction law decreed that the NVQ Level 2 be held for all trades onsite.

NVQ Plastering

  • For all Trades working onsite. We also know that by 2014 all Self employed builders working on domestic properties will require this qualification.

Plastering City and Guilds and NVQ: ( NVQ Multi Skill)

  • We teach many forms of Plastering throughout the 6 week Plastering NVQ Multi Skill Course.  NO other provider offers Or can even deliver this. They will only give you an explanation rather than Practical hands on training. Well, when you come to Pebbledashing Or completing intricate Renders you will have no chance on the average house. At Goldtrowel we will teach you all you need to know and at the same time get you qualified.

Payment For Courses...

All our courses can be covered over a period to suit you as long as you complete the entire course within 18 months. You can train for 6 consecutive weeks, divide your weeks up or even incorporate some weekend training if you have ongoing weekly commitments. At Goldtrowel we aim to make our qualifications as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on a pay as you train basis.

Important Notice:

When booking with your Course Provider you need to make sure that they are offering the right course to suit your needs and value for money, and when choosing your plastering course you should not be sharing areas. In other words, its not acceptable when 2 people are on the same ceiling and in the same room.. You need your own designated area, at Goldtrowel thats what you have, your own room. We have been experiencing more people who have done courses elsewhere come to us to retrain because of this and it's misleading.We do not have cubicles to work from just life size areas.


Our prices are based on the course structure and the amount that you complete and achieve whilst on your course.
